Celebrating Our Spring Relases!

As the gentle warmth of spring unfurls across the vineyards of northern California, we are thrilled to introduce our latest vintages, each a testament to the season's vibrant energy and the culmination of our dedication to crafting exceptional wines. But this year, there's an added dimension to our excitement—a renewed commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

At Caddis Winery, we believe that every choice we make should reflect our reverence for the land and its resources. That's why we've taken a step towards sustainability by opting to remove the capsules from the tops of our bottles starting with our 2022 vintage. It's a small change with a significant impact, reducing unnecessary waste and embracing a more eco-conscious approach to winemaking. With this decision, we strive to not only produce outstanding wines but also to preserve the beauty of our planet for generations to come.

Now, let's dive into our exquisite spring releases, each one a reflection of our passion for crafting wines that capture the essence of the season:

2022 Knights Valley Angler Blend:

Our Sonoma flagship, the 2022 Angler, is a harmonious symphony of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. With each varietal contributing its unique character, this wine is a celebration of balance, complexity, and finesse. Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with your favorite springtime dishes, the Angler Blend is sure to delight the senses and elevate any occasion.

2022 Knights Valley Malbec: Introducing a new varietal to our lineup, the 2022 Malbec showcases the distinctive terroir of the dry farmed Totem Ridge vineyard with its luscious dark fruit flavors, velvety tannins, and captivating aromatics. With its rich palate and lingering finish, this wine exemplifies the untapped potential of the single vineyard from which it hails, alongside our steadfast commitment to pushing the boundaries of winemaking.

2022 Livermore Valley Petit Verdot: Another newcomer to our portfolio, the 2022 Petit Verdot is a testament to the diversity of the terroir of the Livermore Valley. Bursting with bold flavors of blackberry, violet, and cocao, this wine captivates the palate with its depth and intensity. With its smooth texture and well-integrated but significant tannins, it's a true expression of the Petit Verdot grape and a testament to our ongoing exploration of new varietals.

2021 Knights Valley Merlot: Last but certainly not least, we invite you to savor the elegance of our 2021 Merlot. Grown in the renowned Knights Valley appellation, this wine exudes sophistication with its supple tannins, vibrant acidity, and layers of dark fruit and savory spice. Whether enjoyed now or cellared for future enjoyment, the Knights Valley Merlot is a timeless classic that embodies the essence of spring.

As we raise a glass to the beauty of the season and the bounty of the vine, we invite you to join us in celebrating these exquisite wines and our commitment to sustainability. With each sip, may you experience the essence of spring and the passion that goes into every bottle of Caddis wine. Cheers to a season of renewal, growth, and the joy of discovery!

Celebrating a Year of Excellence: Caddis Winery's Journey in 2023

As the curtain falls on 2023, the team at Caddis Winery takes a moment to reflect on a year filled with growth, resilience, and, of course, exceptional wine. This year marked our third anniversary of delighting palates in downtown Sonoma and our 11th serving the beautiful Livermore Valley, and we're thrilled to share the highlights of this remarkable journey with our cherished patrons.

A Downtown Haven for Wine Enthusiasts

Our tasting room in downtown Sonoma has become more than just a space to savor exquisite wines; it's a warm and inviting haven for wine enthusiasts. The past year witnessed the walls echoing with laughter, clinking glasses, and the joy of shared moments. To everyone who has walked through our doors, thank you for making Caddis a part of your stories.

Embracing a Long Growing Season

The vineyards of Sonoma and Livermore experienced an exceptionally long growing season this year, presenting both challenges and opportunities. Patience became our ally as we navigated the nuances of each varietal, allowing the grapes to reach their full potential. The result is a collection of wines that captures the essence of a season marked by perseverance and the beauty of nature. About eighty percent of our harvest came in during the last two weeks of picking this year.

Celebrating Excellence: Our 2020 Thatcher Bay Cabernet Sauvignon

In a year marked by exceptional moments, we're thrilled to share one of our proudest achievements – our 2020 Thatcher Bay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has been named among the Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Cellar Selections. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and artistry that define Caddis Winery.

2020 Thatcher Bay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon:

"Give this big, bold red 30 to 40 minutes to open. You'll be rewarded with aromas and flavors of blackberry, black currant, black cherry, cedar wood, anise, tarragon, fennel, olive tapenade, black pepper, tomato leaf and unsweetened cacao. Full-bodied and rich with mouthcoating tannins and voluptuous fruit structure, its flavors continue to evolve throughout the lengthy finish. Enjoy now or, even better, after 2028." — Stacy Briscoe

As we raise our glasses in gratitude, here's to the 2020 Thatcher Bay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – a wine that has found a place among the best, both in prestigious lists and in the hearts of those who appreciate the art of fine winemaking.

Family, the Heartbeat of Caddis

Caddis Winery is more than a business; it's a celebration of family, with each member playing a vital role in the tapestry of our story. Courtney, Chris's wife, stands as the steadfast pillar of support behind the scenes, infusing our winery with a warm and welcoming ambiance that defines our essence. As we trace the roots of our cherished Double Dog Zinfandel Grapes, we extend a heartfelt nod to Elaine, Courtney's mom, whose vineyard expertise breathes life into the heart of our creations.

A huge thank you for the contributions of Chris's parents, Kathy and Scott. Their hands played a crucial role in the art of winemaking, especially in the meticulous process of punch downs. Their dedication and expertise have left an indelible mark on our wines, enriching them with a labor of love that goes beyond the vineyards.

As Kip and Rhett, our two young enthusiasts yet to savor the wonders of wine, grow up surrounded by the beauty of the vineyards, they're forging a connection with the land that mirrors the deep roots of our vines. Caddis Winery is truly a family affair, where each generation leaves its imprint on the wines we proudly share with you.

In the heart of our family, in the soul of our vineyards, the spirit of Caddis thrives, creating wines that embody the love, dedication, and shared moments of our extended family. Cheers to the past, present, and the exciting future we weave together.

Welcome to Caddis, where family and vines intertwine to craft a unique and unforgettable journey in every bottle.

Nod to Livermore: Where Moments Blossom

In addition to our adventures in Sonoma, Caddis Winery had the pleasure of hosting memorable events in Livermore. These gatherings brought together wine lovers and friends, creating moments that linger in our hearts. The charming landscapes of Livermore added a new dimension to our journey, and we are grateful for the warmth and enthusiasm of the community that welcomed us with open arms.

Gratitude and Excitement for the Future

As we raise our glasses to bid farewell to 2023, we do so with immense gratitude for the memories we've created together. Each bottle of Caddis wine is a testament to the passion, hard work, and love that goes into every aspect of what we do.

Looking ahead, we are filled with excitement for what the future holds. With the continued support of our patrons and the blessings of the Sonoma and Livermore terroir, we eagerly anticipate another year of growth, exploration, and, of course, exceptional wines.

Thank you for being a part of the Caddis Winery family. Here's to the memories we've created and the many more to come in the years ahead.

Cheers,
